Review

Alright, metalheads, strap in for Avenged Sevenfold's 'Hail to the King'. This beast dropped in 2013, and holy hell, it's a head-banging tribute to the gods of metal. A7X went full-on old school, channeling the spirits of Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, and Black Sabbath. It's their first album without The Rev's drumming, but they still manage to kick ass and take names.

The album opens with 'Shepherd of Fire', a track that'll make you want to march into battle. It's got this epic vibe, simple but crushing drums, and they even threw in some brass for good measure. Then there's the title track, 'Hail to the King', which sounds like it could've been ripped straight from the 80s metal playbook. That intro riff? Pure Iron Maiden worship, and I'm here for it.

'Hail to the King' isn't just a throwback, though. These guys took the classic metal sound and injected it with a modern edge that's uniquely A7X. The album crushed the charts, hitting number one in a bunch of countries and spawning two chart-topping singles. It's a killer blend of nostalgia and new-school metal that'll have you throwing up the horns and screaming for more. - Jaxx
