Alice Phoebe Lou is a singer-songwriter from Kommetjie, South Africa, now based in Berlin, who began releasing music independently in the mid-2010s with her debut album Orbit in 2016. Known for blending jazz, indie rock, electronic soul, and psychedelic folk, her discography showcases an atmospheric sound marked by intimate lyrics and experimental arrangements. She’s earned a following through street performances and live shows, and notably, has remained unsigned, self-funding and self-releasing all her records, including albums like Paper Castles and Glow. Lou is also part of the duo Strongboi and has prioritized artistic independence throughout her career.
