Review

I've always felt 'Sing the Sorrow' was when AFI truly found themselves. The way they mixed post-hardcore with goth and emo elements created something that felt completely fresh in 2003. I remember playing 'Girl's Not Grey' and 'The Leaving Song Pt. II' on repeat - those tracks perfectly balanced catchiness with the band's darker tendencies. There's just something so captivating about how Davey Havok delivers those lyrics about alienation and personal struggles.

The album has this gorgeous musical richness that still holds up today. You can hear the care they put into layering the electronic elements with more traditional instrumentation, creating this perfect moody atmosphere. It's interesting how AFI managed to maintain their underground credibility while creating something that could connect with a wider audience. 'Sing the Sorrow' captured that perfect moment when a band takes a creative leap and absolutely nails it - and I think that's why it still resonates with so many people two decades later. - Sienna
