Review

Ace of Base’s "The Bridge" feels like a vibrant dance suspended midair—gracefully connecting the band’s early sun-soaked pop with something deeper and more explorative. Where "Happy Nation" spun with bright simplicity, this 1995 release stretches its limbs into richer territory, blending glossy dance beats, flashes of reggae warmth, and gleaming threads of electronica. Every member leaves fingerprints here—from the Berggren sisters’ luminous harmonies to Jonas and Ulf’s sharpened production instincts—giving the album an unmistakably collaborative pulse. The result is rhythmically tight yet emotionally expansive, like choreography that’s both disciplined and heartfelt.

Songs such as "Beautiful Life" and "Lucky Love" shimmer with celebratory energy, moving with a tempo that invites the heart to dance right alongside. "Never Gonna Say I'm Sorry" and "Edge of Heaven" weave in more introspective textures without losing that Ace of Base buoyancy. Even the acoustic version of "Lucky Love" offers a refreshing exhale amid the electric current, showing the group’s skill at balancing polish with sincerity. "The Bridge" truly lives up to its name—uniting their early catchy spark with a more mature, daring rhythm that kept the world spinning to their beat. - Maya

Artist Bio

Ace of Base is a Swedish pop group from Gothenburg that formed in the late 1980s and found international fame after releasing their debut album "Happy Nation / The Sign" in 1992-1993. Known for their catchy blend of Eurodance, pop, and reggae fusion, they scored major hits like "The Sign," "All That She Wants," and "Don't Turn Around." The band, made up of siblings Jonas, Linn, and Jenny Berggren along with Ulf Ekberg, became one of the best-selling acts of the 1990s and received accolades including a Grammy nomination and World Music Awards. Signed to Arista Records and Playground Music Scandinavia, their sound aligns well with groups like Roxette, Aqua, and Real McCoy. While their later releases saw less commercial impact, Ace of Base’s early work continues to influence pop and dance music.
