Review

Man, let me tell you about "In Lieu of Flowers" by Aaron West and The Roaring Twenties. This album is the final chapter in the Aaron West saga, and it's a real gut-punch of emotions. Dan Campbell, the mastermind behind this project, really outdid himself with the storytelling on this one.

The album follows our boy Aaron as he's still wrestling with his demons, but there's a glimmer of hope peeking through. You've got tracks like "Smoking Rooms" and "Roman Candles" that'll hit you right in the feels, starting off all mellow and then exploding into these intense climaxes. It's like you're right there with Aaron, feeling his pain and confusion.

What really gets me is how Campbell weaves in real-life events, like his experiences during the pandemic and his 2022 tour. It gives the whole thing this raw, authentic vibe that's hard to shake off. And the music? It's got this folksy, Americana sound that's perfect for the story. The horns and sax add this bittersweet touch that reminds me of Springsteen at his best. By the end of the album, you're rooting for Aaron to pull through, and that last track, "Dead Leaves," leaves you with this sense of hope and accomplishment. It's a hell of a way to wrap up the trilogy, if you ask me. - Preston
