Review

A$AP Rocky's third studio effort, "TESTING," dropped in 2018, and it's a wild ride through the outer edges of hip-hop. Rocky's always been about pushing the limits, and this joint is no exception. From the spacey vibes of "Fukk Sleep" featuring FKA twigs' haunting vocals to the nostalgic R&B feels Dev Hynes brings on "Hund43d," the album is a mash-up of styles and sounds that break the mold. Rocky's intuition guides the whole trip, making for a fresh and innovative listen.

"TESTING" dives deep into personal territory, with Rocky spitting about loss and relationships on tracks like "Purity" and "Changes." The album's experimental spirit is reflected in his choice of samples—like Moby's "Porcelain" on "A$AP Forever" and UGK's "International Players Anthem" interpolation on "Changes." Hector Delgado and Rocky himself handle most of the production, embracing risks and challenging the usual. Despite some critiques of its experimental nature leading to a bit of disjointedness, it cracked the top four on the US *Billboard* 200, proving that Rocky's vision resonates. "TESTING" stands as a fearless testament to Rocky's artistry and hunger to redefine the norms in hip-hop. - Jayden
