Review

Modern Baseball released “Sports” way back in 2012, and let me tell you, those guys definitely capture that angsty, youthful feeling we all remember, or perhaps want to forget. It's a mix of emo and indie rock that'll have you singing along to relatable songs about struggles and anxieties that come with— you guessed it—being young. Bren Lukens and Jake Ewald, the guys behind the lyrics, paint a pretty honest picture of what it's like to be figuring things out.

Musically, “Sports” keeps things pretty energetic, with some bursts of speed and some slower moments that actually let the emotions sink in. Think straightforward, honest music that lets the emotions be center stage— because they *are* pretty powerful on this one. They don't overthink things, which just works for the overall vibe. Plus, the album clocks in at around 31 minutes, so it's a quick listen but packed with feeling.

You've got to hear tracks like "The Weekend" and "Hours Outside in the Snow" – they are catchy as all get out but still tap into that raw emotional side. This album definitely sets the stage for what Modern Baseball would go on to achieve. - Chloe
