Mother Mother’s second studio album, "O My Heart," dropped in 2008 and is a killer mix of indie rock with a big ol’ helping of emotional depth. Kicking things off with the title track "O My Heart," the band nails it with catchy melodies and poetic lyrics like “Oh my heart, it’s a house in tornado” and “Oh my heart, it’s a fish out of water,” painting such vivid pictures of emotional chaos. Tracks like "Burning Pile" and "Try to Change" hit hard with introspective lyrics and stunning vocal harmonies, making you feel all the feels.
With producer Howard Redekopp at the helm, the album sounds crisp and balanced, letting each instrument shine without stepping on each other's toes. The eclectic use of cello, trumpet, and saxophone adds a rich texture to their sound. The vocal chemistry between Ryan Guldemond, Molly Guldemond, and Debra-Jean Creelman is like a warm hug, tying the whole album together. Standout songs like "Hayloft" and "Wrecking Ball" have become viral anthems, thanks to TikTok.
