Review
'Leavin' This Holler' by 49 Winchester is such a beautiful balance of Appalachian roots and rock & roll energy! I was immediately drawn to how they've captured that raw, gritty live feel in their recordings - probably because they made this album while keeping up a crazy tour schedule. The standout track 'Yearnin' For You' really hits with its vulnerability, and Maggie Antone's backing vocals on the title track add such a perfect layer to the sound.
I love how the band weaves together those twangy Southern elements with soulful melodies throughout the album. 'Fast Asleep' has this interesting history as one of Isaac Gibson's early compositions that just fits perfectly within this narrative of breaking free and finding happiness. 'Favor' and 'Hillbilly Happy' (especially with that amazing coda blending lead guitar with keys and organ) really showcase their musical range. This album feels like such a natural evolution for them after their label debut, showing how they've grown while staying true to their rural roots. - Ava
