Review
"Up and Away" by Σtella is a real gem that came out in 2022 on Sub Pop Records. This album's got a bit of everything - catchy tunes, deep lyrics, and a vibe that's both modern and a little retro. Redinho's production work really shines here, giving the whole thing a polished feel that still keeps its indie cred.
The title track "Up and Away" is a total earworm, with this killer riff that's actually borrowed from an old Googoosh song. It's the kind of tune that'll have you humming along before you even realize it. But don't think this album is all fluff - Σtella's got some serious storytelling chops. She digs into some heavy stuff about love and self-discovery, especially in tracks like "Nomad" and "Titanic."
Σtella's voice is the real star of the show, though. She's got this way of singing that just pulls you in, whether she's belting out an upbeat number or getting all moody on "Is It Over." It's the kind of album that'll have you coming back for more, picking up on new little details with each listen. If you're into indie pop with a bit of substance, "Up and Away" is definitely worth checking out. - Preston
